Liposuction and liposculpture are two very effective interventions that allow you to reshape the body by eliminating those annoying adipose accumulations that are common to most people.

Several factors can affect our appearance: hereditary, hormonal, or habitual.
In short, the causes of a poorly toned or defined silhouette are many; what matters is that thanks to medicine and cosmetic surgery we can reshape and redefine it.

So let’s see in detail what liposuction and liposculpture consist of.
First, however, I would like to clarify: both techniques are not a substitute for a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Both methods should always be accompanied by a suitable diet and constant training, even light ones.

Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most requested operations in the aesthetic medical field, especially by women.
It is an intervention born over 30 years ago that allows you to remodel different areas of the body, including legs, arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, etc …

We are talking about a safe and definitive method that is ideal for all normal-weight patients who want to combat localized fat deposits. So of small or medium accumulations that resist diets and workouts or of imperfections caused by constitutional factors.
There are still other times when, instead, this technique is requested of me by new mothers who, after giving birth, want to remove the excess fat formed during pregnancy.

Redefining all the lines, after the liposuction surgery also improves the appearance of cellulite, water retention, and orange peel skin in general.

Where can the elimination of fat mass be eliminated?

Liposuction can be performed on different parts of the body:

  • Abdomen: this is the area where you tend to accumulate more fat. Liposuction, in these cases, allows you to remove excess abdominal fat, returning an immediately more defined effect to the body.
  • Legs and buttocks: another very critical point, especially for women. The problem is that when fat accumulates in this area, the silhouette automatically tends to widen, changing all the proportions of the body. Hence, liposuction proves to be an excellent solution to streamline the entire lower part as well as the knees and ankles.
  • Arms: when we talk about toned arms (article link) we only think of muscular and defined arms, but that’s not quite the case. Liposuction is a very good method to counteract skin laxity and sagging of fat, for immediately firmer and firmer arms.

Liposuction before and after

Before any surgery, I always tend to compare myself with my patients, to get to know them and better understand their goals and desires.
Furthermore, before the surgery, I always have exams followed and, shortly before the agreed day, I advise you to stop smoking or taking certain drugs.

After surgery, a fairly quick but gradual recovery should be expected.
We must consider that liposuction takes time and rest, especially for the first few days.
In addition, for a few weeks, it is necessary to take care of the scars and wear the containment sheaths, to speed up healing times.
Right away you can go back to office work, while for everyone else it is better to wait a few days. As for sports activities, however, you have to wait at least 2 weeks, paying particular attention to sports and physical efforts in general.

Liposculpture is the evolution of liposuction.
It is always a cosmetic surgery that involves the aspiration of localized fat, but through even thinner cannulas than those used for liposuction.

This technique, therefore, is decidedly less traumatic than the traditional intervention and, in addition, it allows to obtain a more precise and harmonious remodeling of the body.

We can therefore say that thanks to this intervention you can achieve your goals in the short term, without having to undergo an invasive operation.
However, even if the results obtained are always of great satisfaction, I always suggest maintaining a suitable lifestyle, so that the benefits of liposculpture can be maintained for as long as possible.

Liposculpture before and after

Liposculpture, as we have seen, is an intervention very similar to the traditional one, which is why the precautions to be taken are almost the same.

We, therefore, remind you that, before undergoing a body remodeling operation through liposculpture or liposuction, it would be advisable:

  • Adopt a low-calorie diet, so that it is easier to identify the accumulations that resist diet and physical activity;
  • Stop smoking;
  • Do not take NSAID drugs;
  • Stop taking any hormonal contraceptives;
  • Previously undergo specific blood tests.

Which is better: liposuction or liposculpture?

As with any surgery or treatment, there is no one generically better than the other. I always try to better analyze the starting situation and then find the most suitable solution to improve it.

This is why, as I always repeat, it is important to rely only on experts in the sector who know how to perform any type of intervention. Only in this way is it possible to guarantee satisfactory results but above all tailor-made.
