Leg Liposuction Phoenix

Leg liposuction is often used to sculpt legs back into youthful shape. From the outer thighs (saddlebags) and the inner thigh (thigh gap) all the way down to cankles and ankles, modern liposuction techniques can do miracles. At Phoenix liposuction, we specialize in problem areas. Our doctors are committed to giving you fantastic sculpting and contouring results in our state-of-the-art facilities.

What is leg liposuction?

Modern cosmetic liposuction procedures are done using tumescent liposuction. It involves injecting a solution of lidocaine, epinephrine, and a carbonate to remove excess fat. Once the area is adequately numbed, the surgeon can use a cannula to suck out the fat deposits. The procedure is always done with local anesthesia as there is no need for general anesthesia.

The number of liposuction procedures that can be performed in one visit is limited by the amount of lidocaine you can safely take.

There is no need for sutures, and the incisions will heal in a very short period.

Surgeries can usually be completed in under two hours.

Thigh Liposuction

Thigh liposuction is considered by many professionals as the best area to get spectacular results. The inner thigh gap is of particular interest. It allows the elimination of inner thigh chaffing. It is often combined with outer thigh lipo. Women have a genetic predisposition to store fat in the area called saddlebags. Outer thigh liposuction and the anterior of the leg are done in a surgical procedure called body sculpting. Large amounts of fat cells can be removed to give you a sculpted effect.

We caution you that anterior liposuction cannot entirely remove cellulite caused by water marbling and not fat cells.

Lower Leg Liposuction

Knees are known to retain fat deposits, but it is a tricky procedure during leg liposuction. The cosmetic surgeon has to make the inner knee balance the patella (knee cap) and the outer knee. To give your lower leg some definition, it is essential to remove fat from the calf’s lower part to show the muscle. Thick ankles, slangily known as cankles, can also have stubborn fat removed. The final procedure is ankle and calf liposuction.

All lower leg lipo procedures need to be reviewed during your visit to ascertain no underlying medical conditions. Lipedema is often a cause of water retention in the legs. It has to be ruled out before you can be deemed a good candidate for liposuction

Am I a good candidate for leg Liposuction?

If you are an adult in excellent health, you can probably benefit from some fat removal procedures. The following questions can help you to decide if the long-term results will be to your benefit: TRUE or FALSE

  •       Am I close to my ideal weight (BMI below 30)?
  •       I do not use drugs that are beta-blockers, NSAIDs, or Aspirin
  •       I have excellent skin elasticity
  •       I am ready to follow all the doctor’s recommendations pre-and post-op
  •       I will wear my compression garment at all times
  •       I am aware that liposuction will not replace a controlled weight loss program
  •       I am cognizant that heavy alcohol and tobacco use will significantly lengthen my recovery
  •       Liposuction is not a solution to remove cellulite
  •       I have realistic expectations about the results of liposuction.

Downtime and recovery from leg liposuction

All patients have different experiences when it comes to recovery periods. You must consider age, number of procedures, and skin elasticity. To give you a sense of the process, let’s take it from the end of surgery.

You will spend an hour in the recovery room. You will have someone take you home, and you will want to rest as the anesthetic wears off. Wearing the compression garment at all times will reduce swelling. It is recommended to elevate your legs. You may feel some discomfort at first, and you will probably be given a prescription for pain relief.

The first few days will require you to keep the incision sites clean to avoid infection. Sponge baths are recommended vs. bath or long showers. Do not use cold or hot packs on the affected areas.

We recommend a healthy diet and proper hydration. Fresh produce and lean protein are essential to replenish your body. It will help with collagen production. This ensures that your skin will tighten and look more youthful and taught.

After a few days, you will feel comfortable walking short distances. You can resume your daily activities. Avoid sitting for long periods, and do move to keep your circulation to the treated area active. Blood vessels will generate in the treatment area.

When the doctor deems your recovery complete, you can return to heavier exercises at the gym.

The success of your surgery depends on you. If you keep your weight constant, it is unlikely that fat tissue will return to the liposuction area.

Liposuction is a step to the new you; the rest is up to you.

Cost of leg liposuction

The price starts at $5,000 for the first site. The cost will vary from there with the amount of fat to be removed and the number of body areas and procedures you require.

Patients usually prefer to do several procedures simultaneously because it involves significant savings and avoids repeat visits. This means less frequent downtime periods and a complete leg makeover.

Often patients want fat transfer procedures to other parts of their bodies: the ever-popular BBL (Brazilian butt lift) and breast augmentation.
